ULC Standards, a Standards Council of Canada accredited standards development organization, is pleased to announce the publication of ULC-S8752-12, Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) Panels.

This First Edition ULC Standard of Canada has been approved by the ULC Committee on Solid State Lighting.

ULC-S8752-12 will be of interest to anyone who manufactures, distributes, uses, regulates or inspects organic light emitting diode (LED) panels intended for portable or permanent installation.

The First Edition of this Standard covers OLED panel components that are integral to a fixed or portable luminaire, and OLED panel assemblies intended to be mounted directly to a building wall or ceiling. The standard does not cover power units intended to supply the OLED panels although controls that are integral to the OLED panel electronics are included.

The importance of Standards

Standards are essential in helping ensure public safety and confidence. They reduce costs, improve quality and market products and services. ULC tests many products and their components to assure that each and every one of them meets their safety requirements. Because of these safety standards, the public can live and work in a safer, sustainable and a more reliable environment.

ULC Standards is accredited as a Standards Development Organization, by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), a federal Crown corporation that oversees Canada’s National Standards System. In Canada, standards are developed through consensus by balanced committees of stakeholders, and subjected to public review, prior to publication.
